In the first major expansion at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in 6 years, the new Adventure Cove exhibit brings animal experiences to the zoo’s front door. Roto was awarded the theming & interpretive design-build contract in 2019, and worked directly with zoo staff, including animal keepers, educators, and facilities team members throughout the project.

Adventure Cove features an array of visitor experiences, including themed animal enclosures, elaborate setworks featured in facilitated animal encounters, immersive visitor-navigated environments, unique media interactives, and themed signage that communicates key interpretive messages. The area covers 4.1 acres and features both indoor and outdoor exhibits organized into three areas: Pinniped Experience, Jack Hanna’s Animal Encounter Village, and Stingray Bay.
