Animal Abilities on the Trail
This unique project devised, built and installed nearly two dozen custom interactive elements along summer hiking trails in both Vail and Heavenly resorts (Colorado and California, respectively), in association with the U.S. Forest Service. The work was so successful and well-received, new interactives were installed the following year at Breckenridge.
- Interactive development and design
- Engineering, prototyping and evaluation
- Custom fabrication in durable outdoor materials
- Shipping, installation supervision, warranty
These robust outdoor features are found all over the mountain, require no electrical power, and engage guests in full-body interaction and experimentation corresponding to various surprising animal adaptations and abilities. Guests happily leap, stretch, push, pull and pounce, gazing with the eyes of eagles, measuring up to a full-size bull moose.
Building respect for nature and protected park resources requires creating knowledge and appreciation for the animals and habitats that depend on human stewardship. These interactive animal encounters are designed to surprise and delight hikers and explorers, keeping guests connected to the hidden nature that is all around them.
